Flowers made from recycled plastic drink bottles by grade 3s. Every flower is unique: the kids came up with fabulous ideas and were really excited about making design choices and inventing new ways of cutting exotic petals. The flowers were coloured with translucent permanent markers by the kids at Caulfield South Primary. I almost [...]
I am a big fan of the Art created by children around the age of 8 or 9 years old. They are at an age where their drawings are expressive and they have enough skill to realise their ideas without worrying too much about how realistic their drawings are. The kids in each Grade 3 [...]
Way out West is a visual and performing arts program for adults with disabilities. I was hired to run professional development workshops with the awesome lead Arts Workers Fleur Dean and Russ Pirie. Prep to Grade 6 children at Caulfield Grammar explored shadow and the principles of making stencils. Working with Anna Malin, the wonderful Art Teacher at the Wheelers Hill campus we made a shadow puppet theatre from a fridge box and the children performed with their finished puppets.

The dresses were inspired by the students experience of moving to a new city. Their fears, excitement and triumphs provided rich source material to express in a 3-d form.
I was invited by Pam Thorne from the Burnie Arts Council to run a paper dress making workshop in the lead up to the inaugural ‘Paper on Skin’ competition held at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery in Tasmania. I was invited back to judge the entrant’s work on the night of the parade. Burnie is [...]
