Way out West is a visual and performing arts program for adults with disabilities.  I was hired to run professional development workshops with the awesome lead Arts Workers Fleur Dean and Russ Pirie. I had a ball with these people, the leaders are inspired and the group members are having an arts party every fortnight and making quality work.  I was impressed with their sensitivity and openness to working with new materials. We explored charcoal drawing and ink painting and created shadow puppet shows. The group excelled at sand animation, while it may look easy it is definitely involves a great deal of skill. At our final gathering parents, friends and community were invited to help make a giant inflatable in an afternoon.  Our giant balloon was awesome! Images by Paul Dunn.
